What to Expect On Your Visit

When you visit us you will be in for an unusual experience!

Make sure you are at the right church! Because of the number of churches with "northwest" in the name, people commonly confuse our church with others here in Phoenix. Please get the directions to our church from our map. We are on Yorkshire Drive. If you aren't, you haven't found us.

There should be plenty of parking in the front parking lot. If, for some reason, it is full, there is additional parking in the back (north) lot. You can find the drive to the north lot along the west side of the property.

  • If you are like most people, you will want to know what to wear. We like to dress like we are going to church. Now please understand, everyone is welcome in our congregation no matter how they dress. We love people and we want everyone to feel welcome. You will see some suits and ties, some dress shirts without ties, and some people dressed more casually. Many, but not all, of the women wear dresses or skirts. Our people want to dress for church in a clean and neat way to honor God, but also in a way that does not draw inappropriate attention to themselves. Of course, we have no rules about this. We just understand it helps to know what to expect.
  • Check out our Welcome Center under the canopy just east of the front doors of the auditorium. The friendly greeter there will help you find anything you need. We have a clean, safe, well-supervised nursery ministry for those who would like to take advantage of it. If you arrive in time for Bible study, they will help you find a class.
  • As you enter the auditorium, the ushers will give you a Welcome Packet with information of the church. If somehow you miss it, we will also hand them out early in the service.
  • As the service starts, you will notice that we sing hymns and we use a hymn book! It is not because we are technologically challenged or stuck in a time warp. It's because we have a deep appreciation for the beautiful and theologically rich songs that Christians have sung for generations. We love this music and we sing it with enthusiasm. We try to focus our worship on the music that is timeless, rather than that which is associated with the fads of the moment. If you want to rock out on a Sunday morning, we are not the place for that. We use a piano and organ and an orchestra from time to time.
  • We focus our worship on God. Each week we organize our worship service to meditate on a characteristic or attribute of God. Faith, obedience, and joy flow from a confidence in the God we serve. We gain confidence in Him by learning about Him and in being constantly reminded about how wonderful our God is.
  • We teach the Word of God. We believe the Bible is our authority and guide for life and we take it very seriously. We teach it in Sunday messages, in small group studies, in men's and women's studies, in youth meetings, and in children's meetings. We memorize it and prioritize it.

Before you leave, please do not hesitate to say hello to the pastor. He loves to greet people, especially those who are new to our congregation. Do not be afraid to ask any questions you want about the church. We are so thrilled with what God is doing here and we love to tell people about it.

We look forward to seeing you!
